In the 1920's and 30's the village used to have a Lamplighter. Most villages did. This man would go around in the daytime with his ladder and fill all the lamps with oil. In the early evening he would go round again and light them, still carrying his ladder. At about half past ten he would go round yet again and blow the lamps out.
