Teachers notes - An introduction
We are a group of six parents from a range of backgrounds, who rose to the challenge from the Open University of producing a web site to be used at our children's school.
The topic, "Places of worship in Linslade" was chosen by the staff at the School. We started out with the intention of covering many of the subjects within the National Curriculum, but soon discovered it was not feasible within our allotted time scale. We therefore have concentrated on History and RE (Beds Agreed Policy), (QCA Scheme of Work), you many find the site of use in other areas, for example-stained glass windows in Art. From day one of this project we have attempted to keep in mind the target audience of this web site, that being the 7-9 year old (year 3and 4) child. By using a range of artefacts from text, interviews, photographs, documents and cinefilm/videos we hope we have produced a resource which will be of use in both History and RE lessons. We hope that children with special needs will especially find the interviews, video clips, Milly the mouse and Gary the gargoyle advantageous.
