The Church and Chapel

St. Lawrence's Church and The Methodist Chapel were, as in most villages at that time, an important part of village life. The Vicar of Saint Lawrence's Church was Reverend Conway-Davies.

The Shops

There were three shops in the village. The Post Office in Primrose Road which also sold some general groceries. A shop in Vicarage Road which sold general groceries and the Bakers owned by Mr. Buckingham who made his own bread and cakes.

Mr. Buckingham also played the organ at The Methodist Chapel.
