A new wetland reserve was established as one of the many attractions at the Country Park and to date is the largest man-made reedbed in Europe. Wetland habitats are vital for plants, insects and animals. These include rear species such as the bittern and bearded tit. Careful maintenance of the wetlands is essential. The water levels must be monitored and controlled and some of the reeds have to be cut each winter. |
