In 1710 a gallery was erected on the north side of the church and one on the south in 1724. These were removed in 1926 when electric light ws installed. Two standard candlesticks standing in the church are made from the old timbers. The Royal Coat of Arms was placed over the chancel arch in 1841. The screen in the chancel arch was erected in 1870 as a memorial to a member of the Taylor family.
In 1934 the nave roof and the backs of the carved figures were found to be infested with death watch beetle. The Restoration Fund found unusual ways to raise money including a gift sale. |

Did you know?
While the restoration work was being carried out, a set of steps were found, previously unknown and believed to be hidden for centuries. They led up from the point of the chancel arch presumably to the original central tower. |
