The last job in the factory was carried out by the workers called "Finishers".

The name they were given really tells us what their job was.

It was to finish the boots and shoes by sewing the heels on, making eyelet holes for the laces, and finally giving them a good buff and polish so they look really nice before putting them in a shoebox and sending them out to the shoe shops to sell.
This is a picture of a very old pair of shoes like the ones made in the traditional way described.
