Village Green

The photo shows the church by the village green. The church building itself is very interesting from a historical point of view, but there are lots of clues to Willen's history to be found all around.
There is a war memorial on the green, which honours the Willen men who died in the first world war. The postbox in the wall, by the gates to the churchyard, was put there when the village post office was shut down in 1884. If you enter the churchyard gates, there are lots of gravestones and plaques commemorating previous villagers. There is also a fine view from the top of the church tower.
