Willen church & cottages from Milton Rd.

This church was designed and built by Robert Hooke when Richard Busby, was Lord of the Manor. It replaced a medieval church which had fallen into disrepair. The pair of labourers' cottages on the right of the photo were built in 1814 by the Busby Trust.
These cottages (right) were built by the Busby Trust in 1829 to replace some tumbledown tudor cottages. Homes for agricultural labourers, like Charles and Mary Chance, during the C19th, all the cottages are now privately owned.

The cottages have all been extended and modernised, but you don't have to search too hard to find clues to life in days gone by.
