View south to the Brickhills

This watercolour was painted in the 1850s by the vicar's sister, while she was staying at the vicarage. It shows the view south from the vicarage garden, across the Ouzel valley towards the woods near Woburn.
Painting by L. Benthall, from the Willen parish file, CRO Aylesbury.
You can see the rolling farmland in the foreground and the churches of Milton Keynes (village) and Great Brickhill beyond. This view remained much the same until the building of the new town of Milton Keynes. The same view now is very different.
