Friday 11th October 1946

On Sunday the 6th of October 1946 a notice was pinned on the church door at St. James, New Bradwell. It marked the end of an era for the church of New Bradwell. Rev. Guest had given 38 years service to the local community. During this time he had faced many difficulties and by the time he resigned he was a very ill man. The Church congregation had dwindled over the years and by the time he resigned he regularily had a congregation of less than a dozen people. Rev. Guest is remembered by the people of New Bradwell as a very obstinate man, a man who was ahead of his time. The feeling among the people is that he was far too intelligent for Stantonbury and New Bradwell and there was no one on his level with whom he could confide or communicate.
