The old Vicarage was designed by G E Street, the designer of St James' Church itself. Street is famous for designing the law courts in the Strand in London.
The old Vicarage is located approximately one mile away from the church it served. It originally stood in almost 2 acres of land and, at one time, had imposing iron gates at its North entrance. Part of the land was given over to Father Guest's tennis courts.
