Lovat Middle School

Lovat School was founded in 1970, due to an increase in the population of Newport Pagnell and the surrounding villages. Mr Harry Manistre was appointed headmaster, together with three governers, including Mr Tom Gollins - both still living in the town. Children of 5-11 were taught, until Riverside School was built a few years later to house the younger age group. There have been two other headteachers since then; Mr Vaughan Johnson from 1983-1989 followed by Mr Bob Brookes, who is the current headteacher. The school has changed very little since 1970 ; temporary classrooms have come and gone, and the dining room is now a classroom. Today there are currently 350 pupils on roll.
