The Reading Room
"The Bishop has granted a license for the holding of religious services in the reading room, which will also be available for celebrating the Communion Service and for marriages. The work of church restoration has now started in ernest, and Messrs. Collins and Godfrey, of Tewkesbury, the contractors, have set on a fair amount of local mechanics and labourers. The organ has been taken down and will be available in the Reading Room for next Sunday's services".
"The sale of the old-fashioned family pews, seats and forms removed from the church created much interest amongst parishioners, to whom the sale was confined on Friday evening. The procedure was for intending purchasers to note lots and fix prices, then the highest bidder secured the various lots".
