MAY 1900

"Mr. R.C. Barnwell was again elected to the office of Churchwarden unanimously. A new vicar - The Rev. A. Rust, M.A., has been appointed for our Parish, and hopes to come and take up his residence amongst us during the Easter week".

"It is with pleasure that we announce the fact that a Cricket Club with a strong committee has been started in the parish. Mr. Fountaine has kindly given the Club the use of a ground. We only trust that the old healthy national game may flourish in the parish, and that a good number of matches may be arranged. His Grace the Duke of Bedford has given a liberal donation to the Club".

The Church played a major part in village life at this time. Services were attended regularly be the majority of parishoners and on a Sunday there were generally three separate services. Many of the children who were in the Church Choir would make the journey to and from their homes and church three times every Sunday for each of the services.
