Watling Street was built by the Romans. Down the hill, toward Fenny Stratford, by the River Ouzel, was a substantial Roman settlement, Magnovium. Roman remains have been found at various sites in the area. Recently, the skeleton of a Roman solider was found when the Little Brickhill bypass was being built, and remains of a villa, and coins were found near the junction of the Fenny Stratford Bypass (previously Galley Lane) and the A5. Urns containing Roman coins were also discovered in Holts Green, Great Brickhill. |
