Eventually, the pressures of running the business and pursuing their careers became too much. They offered the business to Richard and David Odell, who run the ironmongers shop in Stony Stratford. They ran it until 1990, when they reluctantly closed the doors for the last time. Customers were given the opportunity to express their feelings about the closure, and the main consensus of opinion was that it was the end of an era, and that Newport Pagnell would never be the same again. After various other business ventures, the premises are now a restaurant called Odells, that still retains some of the original features, like the drawers behind the counter.
