The Newport Station has always been a keen and active supporter of The Fire Services National Benevolent Fund. Money has been raised with events should as Fire Station open days, car washing, car boot sales, and the popular dinner and dance evenings which were actually held in the Fire Station, unfortunately due to new regulation are no longer held, to the great disappointment of many.
In 1974 the first purpose built station for Newport with drill tower and training area, was officially commissioned. The Station is still in use today, but is no long retained station but a day manning station with a full time crew. All the remaining retained crew are now base at Broughton along with retained crews from Woburn who's station has since been closed down.
