It was 1927 when William Cooper began dealing in tractors. He approached the Ford Motor Company and was allowed to sell in the Newport Pagnell area only. He went ahead and placed his first order for six Fordson tractors. He then went out and sold them all in a fortnight and never looked back.

Over the next few years, the business grew and so did the number of staff working with him. Horace Samwell can be seen sitting to the left of Edith Tandy. Worthy Holpin and Edith Tandy (later known as Edith Bishop) were still working at Cooper's forty years later, in July 1973.

The building also changed a little, as the Kiln house with the weather vain had gone by the early 1930's.

With the business growing Mr. Cooper was soon using other agencies including Bamford's, Ransome's and Massey Harris.

This picture taken in 1934 shows Cooper's staff, from left to right standing as follows:- A. Markham, W. Horn, J Read, S. Lovatt, Worthy Holpin and Rex Channels. Sitting left to right, are:- M. Ralph, Horace Samwell, Edith Tandy, W. Bailey and O. Golding.
Show's the frontage taken in the early 1930's.
