Newport Pagnell
Home to Aston Martin Lagonda
Over the years Newport Pagnell continued to be a place where travellers and tradesmen stopped during their journeys from the North to the South of the country. Because of this importance for travellers it was always going to be likely that coachmakers and wheelwrights would begin to develop their trades in the town. This tradition continues today as Newport Pagnell is now the home of the world famous Aston Martin Lagonda.
Junction 14 of the M1 motorway taken in December 2000
The opening of the M1 motorway in 1959 meant that suddenly Newport Pagnell was known to millions of people as the home of the first Motorway Service Station. It seems somehow appropriate that Newport Pagnell is still a place where travellers choose to break their journeys, even in the 21st century.
