Illness

Since the schools were opened in November 1896 they have been plagued with illness upon illness from both staff and pupils.

The only thing that really changed is the type of illness that are going around during the years that the shools has been opened.

Measles, mumps, influenza, colds, scarlet fever, bad heads, bad throats, were prevalent amongst the children in the early 1900's. Also the staff caught some of the epedemics going around the schools. Some of the coughs and colds during the winter months were because of the draughts coming through the vents in the ceilings.

In the middle of the 1900's to the present day children and staff alike suffered from influenza, polio, coughs, colds, bad throats, measles, mumps, chicken pox.
