History of the schools

The Board Schools were originally three seperate buildings when first opened on Tuesday 10th November 1896. These being the Infants, Boys and Girls.

On 17th April 1947 the schools were reorganised and
the former boys school premises opened as Newport Pagnell Primary School (mixed) and the former girls school premises opened as Newport Pagnell Senior School (mixed). The infants school stayed the same as it had been. The first school taking children from the age of
5 - 7, middle school 7 - 11 and secondary school 11 until they left school.

In 1963 the senior school was transferred to a new building in another part of Newport Pagnell and was renamed Ousedale Secondary Modern School. With this happening the infants and junior schools were rearranged and the old secondary school accomodation was distributed between the two schools that were left.

On the 1st September 1973 the names of the schools were changed to Cedars County First and Middle School and the school ages changed to 5 - 8 for the first and
8 - 12 for the middle. The school names changed because Riverside and Lovat were built.

On the 21st April 1976 Portfields Combined School opened and some of the children from both First and Middle school transfered to this new school.

In the 1990's Green Park Combined School opened and some of the children from both First and Middle school transfered to this other new school.
