Empire Day

In May from 1905 the three seperate departments started to celebrate Empire Day instead of having normal lessons they had lessons on the Empire including duties and responsabilities of its members. Then they would form a procession and proceed to Bury Field where they would sing patrotic songs and listen to speeches then they saluted the flag. Sometimes a half holiday was given afterwards or they would return to school for cakes.

The only time that the departments did not celebrate Empire day in this way was when King Edward VII died and out of a mark of respect they did not celebrate by a procession and singing of patriotic songs they had simple lessons on the Empire at the school.
