There were quite a few war time incidents in and around Ridgmont and Brogborough as the area was quite active with secret activities - the famous Bletchley Park not being very far away; Woburn Abbey had an airstrip and is reported to have had connections with Bletchley Park and of course, at Brogborough there were the brickworks. |

Because of its proximity to Cranfield Aerodrome and Woburn Abbey, both being used during wartime as airstrips, Ridgmont had its fair share of air raids and near misses. The brickworks was another likely target as well - as it was refuted to have been making munitions as well as bricks! |
