Welcome to Yelvertoft Primary School





			John Castell was born on the thirteenth of August 1894. He was the son of John and Ruth Castell and he lived at 'Mile Gate Cottage' Elkington. He started at Yelvertoft village school on the 24th September 1900 and he left there on 31st September1908 to go into farming. When the war came he joined the Northamptonshire Regiment (1st / 4th battallion). He was a private. He was killed in action on Friday 2nd November 1917, during the third batle of Gaza. He was 23 years old. He is buried in the Gaza War Cemetery, Israel.
