Many documents are held at Northampton Record Office. These wills, marriage certificates, deeds, maps etc. have been gathered together from different sources such as large estates (e.g Allthorpe owned by the Spencer family) , solicitors and private collections. A large collection of over 400 items was gathered in Yelvertoft by the Elkins family and given to the Record Office. Some of the Elkins documents date back to the 17th century and tell us much of life in Yelvertoft and surrounding parishes as it was over the last four centuries. The early Elkins family were nonconformist and believed that the Bible should be in English and not in Latin. The family are remembered in Yelvertoft by the Close named after them.
