He came from Winwick, but moved to Yelvertoft and started at the village school on 16th March 1910. He left school on 13th May 1910 and went to do gardening.

When the war came he joined the Northamptonshire regiment . He was a Private and was killed in action during the second battle of Gaza on Thursday 19th April 1917.

He was 19 years old.

He is buried in the Gaza war cemetery, Israel.
