How Willen celebrated Edward VII coronation

Here follows an extract from the Willen Parish Meeting book of minutes, for the 11th June 1902. It begins, "A special Parish Meeting was held in the school-room on Wednesday the 4th June for the purpose of considering the best way of celebrating the coronation of H.M. King Edward the V11.
Present: Dr Taylor (vicar), Miss Taylor, Miss. Whiting, Miss Payne.
Mesdames: Clarke, Clare, Lomas, Goodman, Richardson, & L. Stonton.
Messrs. J.H. Payne (Brook Farm), W. Richardson, W. Goodman, L. Stonton, Geo. Stonton, A. Mitchell, C. Clare, J. Clare, C. Homan, H. Clarke, J.B. Whiting (Caldecote Farm) and H.W. Whiting (Manor Farm).
Dr. Taylor was voted to the Chair.

It was decided to hold a general holiday on the 26th June- A special service at Church at 3.30 p.m. to be followed by a Meat Tea.

The following Committee were appointed.
Catering:- J.H. Payne, Whiting, Taylor, L. Stonton, W. Markham, Miss Whiting and Miss Payne.
Sports:- J.B. Whiting, Dr. Taylor, C.Homans and Mrs Lomas.
Entertainment:- H.W. Whiting, J.H. Payne, Miss Payne, Connie and Nellie Whiting.
Subscriptions to be collected in the village by Mrs. H. Clarke & Miss W. Richardson.
Treasurer:- Mr. J.H. Payne-
