Prince Siddhartha,having himself of worldly riches, masterd all spiritual teachings and devoted himself to self-torment.Along with five other disciples he lived in absolute poverty.Even after all the suffering he discovered that this was no way to Truth.Finally, he sat under a Bohdi tree and vowed not to move until he attained Enlightenmentand could fulfill his promise of saving the world. The King of Mara, who,ruled the Power of Evil, sent them to torment and corrupt Siddhartha.The prince fought off these temptations by touching the earth with his right hand.
