12.4.96 A break in during the holidays - our admin computer system has been stolen. Luckily no other damage.

15.4.96 School reopened for the Summer holidays with our new entrants, we now have 208 on roll. In the afternoon we were presented with a certificate from Barnardos for raising £464.54 last term. An excellent achievement.

28.6.96 A focus on 'Walk to school' day - emphasis on road safety all this week and keeping fit by walking to school.

4.9.96 13 "Rising 5's" were admitted. We only have 153 on roll at present which may be a problem next term.

18.10.96 School closed for half term.

13.11.96 We held a special assembly for Rising 5's to welcome them to our school and give out individual certificates.

29.11.96 Open morning at Sunshine Pre-School with a number of visitors.

16.12.96 Our dress rehearsal for the Christmas concert had a fascinated audience - the children of Sunshine Pre-School and Year 4 Middle School.

20.12.96 Cleaning up today. We held our usual special Christmas assembly with a baby - This year it was Reanne - grand-daughter of Carole Rogers who will be leaving with me to take up a post at Heronshaw First School. A day for me of happy memories - 11 years at Wellsmead First School, where I have learnt much and found true friendship and professionalism. My very best wishes go to Steve Dunning who takes the school forward in January 1997. Good Luck Steve! Julia Tyler.

We hope you have enjoyed reading the School Log Book and that it gave you an insight into the day to day life at the School and some of its memorable occasions.
