Wellsmead First School admits boys and girls in the 4 to 8 years age range. The school was opened in 1971. It is purpose built, modern in design and pleasantly situated in grounds laid out in lawns, shrubberies, large grassed playing areas and playgrounds. There is a courtyard which is used as a natural history study area. Each classroom has it's own art/craft area and access to a quiet study area. The school has places for up to 300 children and there are 265 on roll at present.

Friends of Wellsmead Association

We have a flourishing and lively association which has done a great deal of work for the school. It's fund-raising activities have provided the school with valuable extra equipment, furniture and books; it's social events have helped parents and teachers to meet and talk on an informal basis. All parents of children attending this school are automatically members. Last term they held a "Brat's" fashion show to raise school funds and a sponsored spell, the proceeds having bought new musical instruments for the school.

Our School uniform has remained unchanged since 1971. Grey and maroon are our school colours.
