Our CLUTCH Club project was to look at the history of Wellsmead First School, which was built in 1971, and the surrounding area. How the structure and use of the school has changed since it was built, numbers of children and staff, catchment areas and so on. How the area has changed since the school was built - some housing estates look much newer than the school. Does any housing predate the school? How many households had a car, a colour TV, a computer, a pocket calculator? The life of children going to Wellsmead when it first opened will have been, we think, very different to those of today - even though it is only a thirty-year time scale. |
