Cottages
These are Burley cottages,built in the C16-C17. Originally both were timber framed with thatched roofs. The cottage to the right of our photograph shows the building work undertaken in C18 which changed the appearance and raised the roof line.
Broughton Road. These farm cottages were originally built c.1860-1880 and were split into five dwellings. Today there are two cottages here.
Nurses cottage on Walton Road is a C17 timber framed cottage
The Old Post Office was originally built in C14-15 . A stone chimney was added in the late C16 and further C17 additions and alterations were also carried out.
Most interestingly this property is also of cruck construction like Birds Cottage.
Ivy Cottage is another attractive C17 timber framed building. As you can see the cottage still has a thatched roof and whitewashed walls in keeping with the period.
