The former school at Little Woolstone, built in 1861 with the assistance of The National Society on land given by William Smith.
		The school is pure Victorian Gothic, complete with bell-cote. The attached school house was home for a few years to the first ever school mistress of Little Woolstone, Dorothy Pattison. Education at that time in the 1860s was not compulsory, about 30 children from the villages attended, aged between 7 and 11 years old. By the time they left school, they were expected to be 'able to read a paragraph, write a letter, make out a shop bill, learn the Catechism, and understand an ordinary sermon'.
