Phonics game. Make words from cards. Share stories about the weekend. Put stories into three sentences. Write own personal accounts of weekend
Work in pairs and use word fans to make words
Assembly
Break
Maths. Look at ice balloons. What measurements could we take? Estimate and measure balloons with tape measure. Weigh on scales. Discuss how to measure capacity.
Lunch
Read together. Art: Look at selection of pictures of snowy environments. Discuss colour and texture. Make own snow background using blue and white paint, crumpled paper, sponges, straws, splatter paint.

Register
Make two times table using multilink. Work on maths vocabulary - 'multiplied by'. work through two times table. Practice counting in steps of two.
Phonics game. Use letter fans
Assemly - Singing
Break
Literacy. Write sentences together to describe snow. Listen to poems about a snowy day. Write own poems about snow.Write group poems about snow. Use the computer!
Lunch
ICT. Look at C.D Rom and encyclopedia. Discuss differences and similarities. Discuss how to find information. Navigate pages in C.D Rom to find information about icebergs. Art. Add fine detail to snow backgrounds.


Register
Phonics game: Make words from single letters. Literacy: find adjectives and discuss alternatives. Use non-fiction books about cold, ice, climate. Answer questions.
Play word game as a whole class. Use rhymes.
Assembly
Break
Maths: Look at thermometer inside and outside classroom. Read scale and discuss divisions. Look at ruler and division into units. Group work: Estimate snd measure own paintings of icebergs.
Lunch
Read together. History: Reading from the diaries of Scott of the Antarctic. Geography: Look at maps of countries we have visited. Label parts of the world we have visited. Find out which countries are hot and which are cold.


Register
Literacy/History: Scott of the Antarctic. Listen to stories about Scott and extracts from his diary. Listen to music inspired by his expedition.
Children write own diary as if they were Scott. Handwriting: Our own snowy day poems.
Break
Maths: Look at 'x' symbol together. Look at '=' symbol together. Make up multiplication sentences: 1x2=2 2x5=10. Fill in blank space: 1x?=2 2x5=? working in groups and individually.
Lunch
Read together on carpet. Geography: Find the Antarctic on a map. Discuss the environment. Look at globe. Find North and South Pole. Look at the Equator. Make own Pole pictures.


Register
P.E: Games. Follow my leader, jogging, sprinting, jumping, bouncing, hopping, skipping, leaping. Carrying and placing ball rugby style.
Maths: Multiplication problems.

Break
Literacy: Read extracts from Scotts diary. Listen to music. Look for discriptive words in non-fiction book about explorers. Read in groups.
Lunch
Music: Listen and respond to music inspired by Scotts expedition.Art: Create paintings of Scotts expedition whilst listening to the music. Story: End the day with a story book. Whole class listening.
