This motif was a originally taken from the family crest of the Alston family. Sir Joseph Alston acquired the manor of Bradwell in 1666 (the year of the great fire of London) and held it until 1716.
Here are two examples of the motif included in early versions of the school badge. The Buckinghamshire "Swan" has been added to the design as Milton Keynes was part of the county in those days. The version on the left has a banner attached with a latin version of the school name.
This our current school logo. The "Swan" has now disappeared and the name has changed to include the word "middle" as we became a middle school Priory Common and Heelands School were built.
