2/10/00 A general meeting of the Football Club will be held in Loughton School on Monday next the 8th inst at 7.30pm at which your prensence is Business. To elect officers and committee and make arrangements for the coming season 1900. The teacher has marked it with a large G for good. Walter was 13 at the time. |

This is another writing exercise which was no doubt put to good use when Walter left school! It reads:
Loughton 20/10/00 Rev J T Athawes Rev Sir Last week I applied to the Manger of Wolverton L & N W R Carriage Works for employment in the Finishing Shop. My application has been received, in return they request me to forward a name for reference as to character and ability. |
