Travel

The majority of children have always walked to school, even from several miles away.
In the early 1900s there were no cars and children from outlying farms would travel to school by horse and cart.

In the 1920s, children from Halton Camp were brought down to the school by lorry.

By the 1940s, there were still very few cars and local children still walked to school. Children from Halton Camp now travelled by bus.

In the 1950s and 1960s more children started to use buses or bikes but still most of them walked.
Today cars are the main transport and very few children walk the whole journey to school.
