Mrs Wyldbore-Smith, of the White House in Husborne Crawley, held a garden party in September in aid of the Reading Room Renovation Fund. It was one of the warmest sunniest evenings there had been for several weeks and a large number of people attended.

A Newmarket atmosphere came to Husborne Crawley when a sign appeared, on the corner of the road at the the entrance to Crawley Hall Farm, warning of 'Racehorses'. The sign was erected by Mr Francis who owns racehorses.

On September 23rd the Harvest Supper was held in the Reading Room. The meal was prepared and served by Mrs Brett and helpers.
