Mollie and her husband Guy moved to 'Pine Cottage', Aspley Guise after they were married, where Guy was the Baker. Guy and the baker in Husborne Crawley had a 'Gentlemans agreement' that neither of them would encroach on each others patch. I lived next door to the bakery as a child and have great memories of Mr Humphreys the baker and the smell of newly baked bread. As first call on the delivery round I was always given a freshly baked bridge roll by Mrs Gray, the delivery lady. I spent many happy times in the bakery assisting , as I thought, though probably hindering, Mr Humphreys was a lovely man. Mollie and Guy had three children, Jane, Dinah and Joanna. |
