The Mossman Window
Church Menu Page
In St James Church on the right of the entrance is a beautiful stained glass window dedicated to the memory of Sarah Ann Mossman.

Sarah Mossman was a nurse who lived with her sister Lal, at Elm Cottage on School Lane. They ran a private nursing home for ladies during their confinement and the birth of their babies.

Sarah Mossman also dedicated much of her time to the Church and on the event of her death, this beautiful window was installed in her memory in 1953.

Inscribed in the glass at the base of the window is the following dedication:

"To the Glory of God and in ever thankful remembrance of our sister
Sarah Ann Mossman for 36 years Churchwarden and faithful servant of
God in this Parish. April 5th 1950"
