This picture was taken around 1940 in the school playground. When the bell sounded for them to start school they had to line up in teams and were given a coloured band to wear.During the war the children were given warm Horlicks to drink. This drink was heated up on a 'Tortoise' stove, which was black and free standing with a tall chimney. This stove also provided heat for the school.
