Within this Website we will look at the growth of the transport systems through Newport Pagnell and the surrounding area. It looks at the changes in the environment and landscape bought about by the development of transport systems form the time of the stagecoach, the canal system, the coming of the railway to the development of the M1. We look particularly at the impact that the motorway had on local people, businesses and the landscape. Particular reference is made to the Motorway Services, the first of any kind in the country.
