Greenleys First School - Life today at School
Greenleys 1st School is situated in the centre of Greenleys very near to the parade of local shops , housing office, community meeting place, family centre and pre-school.
There's roughly 200 pupils at present within 7 classes, 2 of which are in the Early Years Unit in the Annex which is fenced in with a large grass area for the younger children. There is 7 Teachers , 2 Nursery Nurses, 3 Learning Support Assistants, 6 Midday supervisors one of which is the resident caretaker a Secretary and 2 cooks which provide hot meals with the Headteacher being Mrs. Catherine Lehal (photo below).
The School has a relaxed friendly feel this is helped by very well organised school events which the families of the pupils are invited to attend, they have the annual Strawberry Tea at the height of the Summer Term where traditional country dancing is performed while the parents enjoy cream scones and tea , at Christmas the play has to be performed on 3 different occasions due to the ticket demands from proud parents and family members. The Teachers and Staff enhance the positive feel by also organising after school clubs so both the Staff and the children get to know eachother on a more personal level, this all make for a very huge community spirit which surrounds this hard working school.
