Algernon Missenden bought the Gables in the 1930's and during World War II some of the property was used by Highgate school for girls who had moved away from London.
	Partly demolished in the 1960's for new houses, one set of wrought iron gates where sold to America. The other set can be seen at the entrance to Grove Gardens in Dunstable.
