When I was a lad, the only real employment was the railway, the brickyards or the brushworks, they were the basic employers as well as the local farms. But the main employers were like those. The main one was the railway - people used to go from Bletchley on the 'workers' train to Wolverton Works and then come back again and also the brickworks employed quite a few but not so many, because there were 3 brushworks in the town at that time and there wasn't much else. But once the Greater London people started coming in, you got industries coming here. Wipac was one of the first and they sort of had a factory built up Denbigh Road and other people had factories along there.
