Guru Arjan Dev Ji (1563-1606)
Fifth Guru

After Guru Ram Das, his son Arjan Dev became the fifth Guru of the sikhs. Guru Arjan was from Goindwal, a small town in Amritsar. The youngest son of Guru Ramdas and he got the foundation stone of the Golden Temple laid. Guru was a poet of spiritual nature.
Guru Granth Sahib, (holy book) was compiled by him and he stared the practice of Daswandh. He was arrested and tortured to dead. He laid down his life at the altar of the truth. Guru believed in his Lord and he payed the price of his life.
Guru ji, directed baba Buddha Ji, the old revered sikh that his successor would be Hargobind.
