Like several young from Deanshanger, James Watson had various periods of work in the Oxide Works. He first did three weeks in the lab when he was in the 6th form. As a student, he spent one summer in maintenance fixing pipes. During the summer of 94 he worked in the warehouse and produced a sketchbook based on this. Many of the pages used the actual pigments as media.
