May Day was a very important celebration at Clipston School in the past. In the 1920's and early 30's the May Queen was chosen by popular vote in the school and this was a great honour.

Special May Day songs and dances were learnt and before the May Queen was crowned a little play was performed. The girls all wore white dresses and carried flowers and the boys wore white shirts and smart trousers.

On one occasion Clipston School girls sang specially selected May Day songs on the wireless.
