The war years
1943 In 1943 the needs of the country and its food rations were becoming a concern, therefore boys at Beaudesert were made to tend the school gardens. Vegtables were grown to supply the school kitchen and these were used in many exciting ways. In September 1943 an entry in the school log book declared ''The gardens are the chief concern of the week - and the next - until the war ends.''
1945 In 1945 children were evacuated to Leighton Buzzard, some to Beaudesert school. They were not used to rural life, and were found stripping the apple trees in the playground bare of fruit.
